Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Wrong way, Mum!

Oh no! Another day of dreichness! The haar is with us, and staying for a few days. Funnily enough, up the West Coast of Scotland, they've had their hottest day of the year. And in the news, there are constant reports about how this has been the HOTTEST year EVER in the Northern Hemisphere, proof of Global Warming.

But, but, but... what about this being the WORST, COLDEST, WETTEST year in the northern half of the UK. Does that not mean anything? Does it not negate the other figures?

Anyway, we set off down to the Meadows. It was warm. No wind. But we could barely see across the park. The Castle had disapppeared, as had the whole Quartermile development (the old hospital). I decided to take a different route, and NOT to go to any cafe. At the crossroads, Archie was away behind me - he hadn't moved. Because I was going the wrong way! The liver muffin caravan was the other way!!

As we came up over the Links, Miss Jean Brodie's School was invisible. But I could see a line up of five people. Surely they weren't playing on the putting green? Yes, they were. (Extra)
