The climb

Bleurgh. Back to it today.

Had a terrible night’s sleep last night and could quite easily have worked from home today, but thought I should show willing and venture into the office to catch up with the team. Unfortunately, only two members of said team were about, so it was largely pointless.

Post acquisition there remains a very weird atmosphere in the office and with a boss (for whom I have the utmost respect and consider a close friend) who is shortly going to have to retire on health grounds, I am once again questioning my own direction of travel work-wise. However, my head is not in the best of places at the minute to make any big decisions like this, so I am going to ride it out for a little while longer and see what happens over the intervening months.

On a more positive note, the wee ones were with their grandparents today for their final day of the summer hols and what a grand one they had! Courtesy of my dad, M’boy had his first golf lesson at Kendal Golf Club and then spent the morning on the practice ground and putting green knocking some balls around, which he loved.

Courtesy of my mother, The Youngest and her cousin were treated to a session of Crazy Climb at the Kendal Climbing Wall and I think it’s fair to say that she was in her element!! I'm also grateful for the use of her photo today!

I had a short time with the wee ones this evening before their mum collected them, and so I squeezed in as many hugs and good luck wishes as I could before their big day tomorrow.

As they disappeared off, I could feel things getting on top of me and some unwelcome pain creeping in. So I donned my running gear and headed out to pound the pavements to work through all the things buzzing around my mind. I made it back home in time before being overwhelmed by my emotions.

Pain always seems to help the run time as I completed my usual 5k course in under 28 minutes. The first time I’ve managed to do so in over a year!

A little more emotional turmoil should see me back under the 25 minute mark in no time!

Keep moving forward.
