Last Day
It was the last day of my own summer holiday today and I think it’s fair to say that I was feeling pretty blue about it.
I have been known to refuse to wear trousers on this day and stomp about in my underwear, but with my children growing up fast (too fast) I reluctantly pulled my shorts up and pasted a grin on my face.
The weather was absolutely shocking, so we headed down for a final round of crazy golf at The Flower Bowl just outside Preston. It is crazy expensive, but it is a proper crazy golf course and we had tremendous fun navigating the various obstacles (see one in the extras).
Heading back north, we stopped for a picnic by the sea and watched the tide come in across the bay as the rain continued to spatter the windscreen. The painted on grin started to run a little, but I was prepared for the wobble and had stowed our fishing gear in the boot before heading off this morning.
It was still spitting when we arrived, so I popped the umbrella up and stowed the wee ones on chairs ‘neath its shelter. It seemed to take me forever, but eventually the rods were set up, baited with sweetcorn and there were two floats sticking their heads up from the glass like lake.
Hot chocolates and a cake soon followed (that’s the great thing about Big Blue - it is vehicle, storage unit and small cafe all in one - extras) and so did a couple of fish.
Eventually, we retired to our home where we joined by some friends for a little while before we had the “treat” of a McDonald’s tea.
Great day, but I am dreading the return to work tomorrow….
