Instructions for living a life:
Pay attention.
Be astonished.
Tell about it.

Day 3:
Into the forest....out at the river
Into the river….out on its shore.
I hadn’t worn my river shoes, yet the cold water beckoned.
Maybe I’ll come back tomorrow, I thought.
“Be Here, Now!” Pema Chodron’s words whispered on the wind.
So I was –
Off with the shoes, off with the socks,
The bottom very pebbly (the river bottom, not mine :-)
Very squishy (again, the river)
Unstable – this time, me.
I grabbed a stick floating lazily.
Found my balance,
Cool
Clarity.
Note: the ferns in the main are as tall as I (to lend scale to the scene)
Extras:
~ Gualala River laced with autumn leaves (tidal flows stain the river rocks white)
