Good Morning and Good Afternoon
Day 2 of my seaside sojourn. Here I sit, in a beautiful cove on the northern coast of California. I have the cove all to myself, except for the young couple cavorting on the north side of the cove (no photos, please).
I believe we are on the diminishing side of high tide. The sea has receded enough to allow me to explore around the point. I climb to a "throne" in a high place on the sandstone cliff from which I can view my queendom. I sit quietly...breathing the rhythm of the sea, allowing the sea to breathe me..
I have traveled west, seeking insight and serenity. Clearly, I have found at least one of these. The other will come in good time.
I keep a journal; I always have. The pages of this one are interspersed with quotes from Mary Oliver.
Here is the first: -- From "Good Morning"
Bless the notebook that I always carry in my pocket {knapsack}
And the pen.
Bless the words with which I try to say
what I see, think, or feel.
With gratitude for the grace of the earth.
The expected and the exception, both.
For all the hours I have been given to
be in this world.
