For a short while today, I was working in the Usual Place shop, and in-between customers, I was having a look at the new Christmas stock (yes, I know it's too early, but apparently customers do actually buy Christmassy things four months before the actual Day).
I also spent quite a while gazing at a photo of Dumfries High Street from the 1900s, which was recognisable today, and yet of course very different - less street furniture and signs, for a start. I decided that in my lunch break, I would go out and take a photo from a similar viewpoint. It's nice to see that the fountain is still a focal point for people to gather, chat and relax.
