Now, as I see it......

Belem

Today we were going to get the '28' tram which is recommended to tourists as it gives a good introduction to all the places that are worth seeing.  However, when I looked it up I noticed (with the help of Google Translate) that it was only travelling about half of the route due to some road works.  As we had already walked the part it was still doing, and as there is always a really long queue to get on it, we changed plan.  We got a different tram out to Belem where we saw the Belem Tower, the point of embarkation for the Portugese Explorers, and the Monument to the Discoveries, built in the 1960's to celebrate the Age of Exploration in the 15th and 16th centuries.  We didn't go into the tower; there was a long queue to get in but I was happy to view it from the outside in any event.  I've added shots of the two in extras.

My main shot is of an aquatic vehicle which does trips along the river caught just at the point it drove fast down the ramp into the river.  The look on one or two of the passengers faces was priceless!

I didn't track how far we walked today but it was a long way.  Now ready for a shower before we head out for the evening.
