To Shetland
Off the ferry and into the Skipidock Cafe for a seat awhile before trauchling onward to drop our bags. Although it was only 9am our room was ready. But no hanging about as we were off on the bus to Scalloway to meet up with our very own tourist guide, Aith’s Leasko, yes the one who used to grace these very pages. And she wasn’t slow in giving us our first tip - sassermaet! Fabulous. Great to see her, and who knows, might she just be back sometime?
Then the museum where the Shetland Bus operation was much celebrated (the SK had fallen in love with Howarth’s book when just a lass) and a step around the place.
Back to Lerwick town and a swifty in the Noost but I can’t say I’m finding the essential bar anywhere. And there is a good new brewery too. Perhaps Embra spoils a person in that department. Later, out to the Dowry for fine burgers just as the rain started. Still, not cold! Nor very windy either. And there are trees! I’ve seen them.
