Beach by campsite!

Sian with molly and Flossie on the beach by the campsite in the morning as we took it easy on my last day! Today was for bayeux and the tapestry! Then Sian was going to drop me off at Ouistraham for the ferry to Portsmouth at 11.30pm French time! Sian attempted a swim in the sea but it was a bit rough with a rip tide! I wrote three cards to Richard while she had a shower then we set off for Bayeux. A beautiful mediaeval town one of the few not bombed out of existence. We found a parking space and walked through the town which was a treat as so many beautiful old buildings and not too busy as it was Sunday! We found the cathedral and the service was just finishing! Absolutely chocks so I think it may ave been harvest! A beautiful Gothic cathedral with glorious stained glass and colour! We then returned to the van to try and find the way to the tapestry museum! It is one thing to walk through a mediaeval town, quite another to drive through it following a satnav! We ended up at the botanical gardens and parked there as Sian was getting frazzled! We walked with the dogs to the museum a 30 minute walk and I went in first! An amazing creation and I hadn’t appreciated how big it was and how well maintained! There was a head set with the whole story and I did not take pictures! Technically not a tapestry but an embroidery! I was supposed to buying lunch but that did not happen so I bought dinner in the campsite restaurant which was very good.

Sian drove me to the ferry and dropped me there at nine pm as she had to get backto the campsite! I have at this point as I write about one hours sleep and my phone has given up the ghost in France! To be continued in 2nd sept!
