Three little soldiers

Here is a pic of some trees along at my favourite Bailey walking spot. I love these and how warped and weathered they are. Although the climate over the past couple of weeks won't have done any warping or weathering.
Here they are a couple of months ago Standing guard

It looks a bit dull and chilly here when that really couldn't be further from the truth. It must have been in the mid 20's C and really muggy and still. I went along here after work again so Bailey could get to go in the sea and cool down a bit. He was in swimming but by the time we got back to the car he was completely dry again it was so hot.

The squirrels have eaten all the shoots and flowers off my red hot poker plants in the garden and have been digging under other flowers presumably to try to get and eat the roots or something. At least i think it must be the squirrels. Can't think what else would have done it. The ex flowers look like eaten corn on the cobs and I found one stalk hanging out of a tree so it must be something that climbs - grrrr!
I've only had them for a couple of months as they were donated to me by Shev and we were surprised they actually took and started growing especially with flowers already - pesky squirrels!!

Need a humane way to dispose of slugs. Every night there are hundreds sliming their way around the slabs in the garden and in the daytime their trails are everywhere glinting in the sun. I know you can put salt on them but I think it's a bit cruel. So ideas on a postcard please!
