Two Rivers

My day started* on the banks of the Rhein, for the Rheinpark Parkrun. It is a lovely park and a great place for a Parkrun.

As well as a circuit of the park the course takes you out through the Mülheimer Hafen with its barge mooring and repair facilities.

I struggled, partly because it was 20ºc already at 9am and partly as a result of lack of training while I had my virus. One of those Parkruns where turning up, getting the exercise in and finishing were the achievements.

I took a lunchtime ICE to Berlin. 6 hours on a train is not something I have done for a long time. One of the day's moments was enjoying my mid-afternoon coffee and cake in the Bordrestaurant and realising the train was travelling at 230kph. Smooth.

My day is finishing on the banks of the Spree, close to the Ostbahnhof.

My Extra is the local Parkrun volunteer giving his briefing (watch out for children and geese) before we started.

My Blip is the Spree at dusk. It looks so romantic, but that boat was hosting a booze cruise - a posh one, but drunks are drunks.

This is the ear worm which helped me drag myself around those 5km.

* Disclaimer. In fact it started at the hotel breakfast buffet at 7am as I tried to decide what was suitable to eat before running.
