Castle Suspension

Before we came away, we had made a little list of places and things that we would like to do while we were away.

Quite high up that list was a return to Alnwick Castle. With the weather looking rather unsettled it appeared that today was going to be the best day to do that, so we piled into the van and with our favourite radio sitcom; Cabin Pressure, to keep us company, we headed off.

The castle is amazing (it’s where some of Harry Potter was filmed in case you didn’t know) and they have broomstick tutorials for those willing to embark on a career in Quidditch.

We had a good wander around the estate before enjoying some lunch whilst watching some archery.

On our wander we encountered a crazy golf course featuring the magnificent water spraying beast that you see here. Crazy golf, or as it seems to be more commonly known; Adventure Golf, has featured heavily throughout the children’s summer holiday. Their grandparents have taken them to a couple of courses and this was already our second visit to a course.

Despite the increasingly heavy rain, it was good fun and the children played very nicely together.

When we got back to the campsite, I paid an extortionate fee to suspend them a few feet above the floor and walk across some things; an Aerial Course apparently, but they seemed to enjoy it and it was a nice precursor to a chill out with a pint, whilst the wee ones hammered the 2p slot machines!
