Grandad and Landon
First stop today was at Landon’s school for their monthly flag day where the students chanted the oath of allegiance to the United States and listened to the Principal and various other people about the theme of the month and other matters.
From there Chris and I went down to La Jolla for coffee and a good 8 mile round trip walk from there to Mission Beach passing Bird Rock and Pacific Beach along the main prom returning through Mission Bay.
The marine layer was very stubborn all day down on the coast making it overcast but still warm. Back in San Marcos the skies were clear.
It was good to be back there as we stayed a couple of times in an apartment called Opal by the Sea and walked the area many times in 2012 and 2016. We called in at Kono’s a beachside grill which back then was rated the best eating place in San Diego.
After a grand day at the ocean it was time to pick up Landon from school and Maddy from daycare. We have both of them for the remainder of my stay here - I fly back Monday which is Labor Day, the end of summer.
A lovely evening with both children. Played games with Landon including Mousetrap and Dog Dominoes. They’re just getting more comfortable with me again and I’ll be off and out of their lives until the next visit which will be I don’t know when.
A grand day.
