Phare de la Coubre
We’ve done our “phare” share of French lighthouses this holiday but somehow left the closest to home for our last full day in the Charente-Maritime. The La Coubre lighthouse is still in service in La Tremblade, and at 64 metres high is the highest in the department. We cycled in blazing sunshine and I definitely deserved that ice cream when we got back.
We headed to La Palmyre for dinner (in the car), intending to try Le Golfi, recommended by fellow blipper Paul Shelley (thanks Paul!). It looked very nice but was also very full so we ended up next door. A fine last dinner in the region.
