Storm damage

This swallowtail attracted by the buddleja didn’t make it through yesterday’s violent storm.

Meanwhile the gazebo has been declared a total write off by the insurance assessor (me).

It’s amazing the strength these very lightweight tubular structures have but once the wind gets at them welds pop, tubes crumple and joints and fixings twist and break.

At least it didn’t take to the air.

In the past the storm gust that comes down the valley on rare occasions has downed a huge poplar, lifted a three tonne section of welded tarpaper roof and thrown a substantial plastic table fifty metres.

The poplar wood is long since burnt in the stove, the roof we managed to haul back onto the ‘stable’ and the table lives on.
