Otherwise a good day for house jobs, John has started to work on a centre unit in the kitchen. This is made from a beech tree cut down in Tobermory some years ago. A friend made the units for us, he had this beech ready to make into a a centre work top, that’s was twenty plus years ago. Sanding it has cleaned off all the food prep of all those years and revealed the gentle hue of pink. It has one coat of oil after the usual clean, the second coat maybe later this evening. The Kenwood mixer is elderly and when roaming the working top had left a few marks, mostly removed today; recently a talented neighbour gave me some soft mats, one of which fits perfectly under the Kenwood, this should prevent it moving when mixing dough. 

Jack likes this basket, it usually has a couple toys placed in or near by for him to play with.
