Table legs
Surprising rain in Lichinga today, as it’s supposed to be the dry season. It actually felt rather cold and chilly and by nighttime I was to be found snuggling under a blanket.
Work is quite anxiety-inducing at the moment. An orchestra of confusion abounds about the activities we have planned over the coming weeks. Ending the day finishing up another delayed task, I signed off and felt remarkably detached. When I’m away from my desk I am more detached than I used to be, which has got to be good. And surprisingly detached given that I have no idea whether a consultant arriving on Monday morning will have a ticket for his onward trip to the north. But, we try not to panic about things out of our control.
This new café has opened in Lichinga since my last visit. The aesthetic is ‘pieces of wood resembling table legs dangling precariously from the ceiling panels. Panels which we will then smash into with a brush.’ I was confident I would be clocked on the back of the head by an errant table leg. I avoided incident and rather enjoyed a delicious and tangy passionfruit and lemon juice, which even contained tapioca chunks. In Lichinga!
