Mozart and Mendelssohn

An excellent Prom shown on BBC 4. I'd not heard of Anthony McGill before. He was superb playing the Mozart Clarinet Concerto. I'd not heard of the conductor, Gemma New either. She's from New Zealand and really got the best out of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra throughout the whole programme. The second half was a staging of Mendelssohn's Incidental Music to a Midsummer Night's Dream with the National Youth Choir of Scotland's Chamber Choir a particular delight. Worth catching up with on BBC iplayer.
