Blast from the Past

Young Members Day on the Talyllyn, where the 16-25 year old volunteers pretty much run the whole railway.  Yes, loco crews, guards, station staff.   It's fantastic to have so many enthusiastic, committed and capable youngsters involved.   In no small part, it's down to the commitment of their predecessors and other, older volunteers who support and train them in a way that both teaches the skills and also develops them as individuals

For me, working in the shop for the last three hours of the day, it was especially poignant seeing the headboard on a special that they ran.  This headboard was created back in 2015 when Ruth was active in the YMG.  She was the principle architect of the headboard seen here in production and here in use back then.   Take a look at the extra pic in the second link.  It marks a magic moment here and would have been the main on any other day :-)

I awoke with a sore throat and a headache, the latter proving hard to shift.   Most likely my body telling me to take it easy but I tested for Covid before going to tonight's singing practice.  Negative.   The throat is not too bad this evening so if it doesn't change overnight, I will be OK to take part in tomorrow's set at Abergynolwyn Show.   I was due to have a share of the table at the pottery sales area but have pulled out of that.  A quiet day, mostly at home is what I need, recharging my batteries for more busy days ahead.
