Snapshots of my world

Scafell Pike and Great Gable.

The rain gave it beans overnight and to be honest I was surprised to find we were not floating this morning!!

An early start to head out on the hills despite it being rather damp. Wet weather gear on and we headed off up Scafell Pike. The views at the top were those in our imaginations but it still felt great to know we had summited the highest mountain in England!

From there we made our way down via several lovely tarns as the views lower down began to show themselves as the day dried up. A real treat! We didn't go all the way down because, instead, we headed back up to conquer Great Gable. Again we didn't get any views from the top but as we descended the heightening winds allowed the clouds to move quickly to offer glimpses. :-)

A lovely walk back down to ground level and back to the campsite...where we were greeted by a sign informing us the campsite would be closing in the morning due to Storm Lilian and forecast high winds...everybody had to leave by 9am!
