There She Goes Again

Minky day, and after she and her Grandad (me) enjoyed their bowls of fruita (said with silly Spaneesh voice) we headed to Victoria park. The boundless energy of the wee one. And Grandad’s less than boundless energy was spent pushing swings and roundabouts. Great fun. Home to bake rocky road and then paint.
Then we were off to the Lyceum - one of the proper festival shows. Official. Jack Lowden in The Fifth Step written by David Ireland. What an aimless pointless piece it is. A serious subject played for lame laughs and nothing more? A dud. Avoid.
We’d to leg it swiftly thereafter - the closing film at the Film Festival: Since Yesterday: The Untold Story of Scotland’s Girl Bands. And an engaging and entertaining film it is. Lacking much video footage they do pretty well capturing the spirit of the bands in a series of amusing interviews. There is a bit of a serious probing about the lack of success of many of them but the acceptable given answers (London domination, male domination..) maybe evade one obvious flaw: plenty attitude, not (m)any good choons. Don’t forget that old grey whistle test... I should know, being both old and grey.
