Eddie and Basil

I'm so pleased we finally got to the Beacon Hill sculpture event this afternoon. The emphasis this year I think is on encouraging people to join in workshops in a woody glade at the top of the hill. The theme is Fungi and the willow exhibits aim to show how the fungal network below ground, mycelium, connects trees and sprouts the 'mushrooms' and toadstools that we see above it. The extra photo illustrates this along with the small statues of Oscar and Eddie, who looks very much like Holly, who were features of the two previous years sculpture trails. Holly has gone to another home but Eddie kindly posed with Basil.

Today's workshop was about making mushrooms out of clay and natural materials found in the glade.

Emily, my micro scooter, finds it tough going on gravel. Despite stopping at far too frequent intervals, she did get me from the car park and back.
