Transmission Station

Mostly sunny all day, with clouds passing over, the odd shower.  Still really windy.

Up early, cooked breakfast, then cleaned and packed up. Headed out for a walk around Grimsetter, then up to the Ward.  Caught the ferry home at lunchtime.  Popped by Madeline's this afternoon, then down to Laura's. Met friend Julie for walkies at teatime.  A busy night working in the shop. Off to bed early.

Television arrived to Shetland in April 1964.  The first transmission towers were erected here, and have been a landmark on the skyline ever since.  The hill stands at 226m, the two towers adding another 70m on top.  My first time up seeing them, quite impressive, really windy too. You'd certainly need a calm day to climb up there.  Taken up the Ward, Bressay.
