Busy beach

It was pretty busy at the beach today, which was hardly surprising as it was a lovely day. A really enjoyable fairly short swim with a range of different swimmers, down to the green door and back. A good reference point was provided by our row of colourful bags and trugs on the beach. At least I don't have the only black one any more. The black trug now sees duty in the garden (probably its natural habitat) and I have a blue (officially "teal") bag. And furthermore, I don't even have black swimming costumes any more. The only things which are black are my socks and gloves.

After the statutory 10am Sunday swim, we've been back in the garden, mainly concentrating on the back. I strimmed the grass (I had no idea how exhausting it would be - what a weakling), and Mr A finally reclaimed the poppy bed and put some other plants in it - largely things reclaimed from elsewhere in the garden, especially things that would appreciate a bed full of muck. I also used the garden vacuum cleaner to tidy things up front and back and watered the pots and some of the new plants.

After we'd finished, I settled down to a bit of messing around with the botanical inks Mr A bought me yesterday. Very relaxing. It led down a rabbit hole of trying to figure out how you make botanical inks. If I'm to do anything constructive with these inks, I'll also have to master the techniques of water colour painting - light to dark, rather than dark to light, which is my first instinct. I guess it's a whole different way of seeing.
