Everyday I Write The Book

Exotic creatures

We made a visit to London today to see some open studios in the east end where one of our younger family members does her work. Her acrylics are excellent and there were several people there we hadn’t seen for ages.

We walked there from Waterloo, which took us about an hour and a half and is about 3.5 miles as we took the scenic route along the south bank and across Tower Bridge to St Katherine Docks.

This woman was walking her cat near the National Film Theatre so we obviously got talking.

London was awash with other exotic creatures too today, specifically red shirted Gooners and sparkling Swifties. Hundreds of them going to their respective sporting and musical gigs. Quite a sight.

Stopping for a drink at Doggets Coat and Badge next to Blackfriars Bridge we saw the plumes of smoke from the Somerset House fire which led to over a hundred firefighters being deployed. No one hurt and the Courtauld’s famous collection of impressionist paintings was unharmed. But spectacular nonetheless. The building will be 250 years old in 2026.

Very good day but very hot, very crowded, and quite exhausting.
