Everyday I Write The Book

Friday night mixology

After a busy day in the garden, and a cancelled evening trip to the National Portrait Gallery (Henry VIII will have to wait), what better way to wind down than with a cocktail? This is a lychee martini. I had to substitute sugar syrup for lychee syrup but it tasted excellent. Do try this at home.

50ml vodka
25ml lychee liqueur
25 ml lychee or sugar syrup
10 ml vermouth
Ice
Lychee on a cocktail stick to serve (optional)

Shake and serve …

The vermouth does give it a little bite. Without that you can call it what you like, but it’s not a martini. As the ice melts and the sweetness subsides you get to appreciate the flavours a bit more. Don’t rush it; it’s quite potent.

There are two projects on the go at the moment. One is to finish cat proofing the garden. The other is the extension to The Love Shack, to provide more permanent cover than that supplied by a parasol. Structures in place, roofing timbers coming Monday…
