Da New Levenwick Broch
A beautiful sunny day, all day and evening. Windy but warm. The nights aren't half drawing in now, a darker feel around 8pm, still light well after 9pm but you know it's disappearing quickly.
Up at 5am, a 12hr early shift in the airport. Five busy flights before 9am, thankfully the rest of the day was slightly quieter. Meeting and boarding flights in the morning, check-in desk in the afternoon. Schools back today, so we should get quieter over the next while. Walkies with Sammy this evening, then early to bed again.
I've noticed this structure as I've been travelling up and down to work. Curiosity finally got the better of me, I went to investigate. At first I thought it was some sort of memorial, turns out it just one man's hobby passing the time. Built a few years ago by local man, Graham Smith, using odd stones from around the field. Amazing masonry, the drystone walls have been built to perfection. As I came around to the front, there was a front door, inside it went. It has a feel of a mini broch, which I think was the aim. He's built other structures near by, I'll have to find them too. The new broch, west of the Clothie, South Punds, Levenwick.
