…with abundant showers and 16 degrees most of the day. While we take note of a heatwave in central Europe, including our hometown.
The main picture shows a view over the meadows to Criffel, the highest elevation of region, rising to 528 569 metres almost directly from sea level.
Yesterday three of the books shown in the extra arrived by mail from an antiquarian bookstore, I had purchased no. 1 at Wigtown (“the Scottish book town”). They are all first editions, from 1939. Interesting to compare with publications of our time, no notice was taken of ecological impacts.
The imminent WW2 was naturally not yet mentioned in these books. Eventually the war considerably hampered the development of especially civil transport utilisations.
