Beacon

…on the banks of Hornbæk Plantage, Nth. Sjælland, Danmark. I presume this structure has been put up to mark a submarine cable connecting Denmark to Sweden, but sadly couldn’t find definite information about its significance.

Update (Tuesday, 15 August): today I asked a local gentleman on the beach. He informed me it’s part of a navigation aid: there is another bark further up in a swathe—when a vessel enters the narrow part of the Øresund here both barks will overlap and announce the ship’s position.
