My topsy-turvy life

Looking on

Everton 1 Roma 1
Pre-season friendly

It was definitely a pre-season game in its feel and tempo (and weather) but a pretty entertaining one for all that.

The Blues looked lively and knocked the ball around well, although Roma were definitely playing within themselves. Roma scored for a 1-0 half time lead with Dominic Calvert-Lewin showing his strength to equalise early in the second half. The signs are encouraging for the season ahead and the new signings are looking good. Ndiaye even tried a pirouette and shot on the edge of the area which very nearly went in...very un-Everton.

I'm sure Super Kev, who died back in June, would have enjoyed it and it was nice to see the club paying tribute to the man who had such an impact on the team.

It was good to be back (pretty much in my old seat) with some familiar faces, and I'm sure -hopefully- it won't be my last trip to the Grand Old Lady before the move to Bramley Moore next season.

Flower fields
Being a Saturday, we obviously couldn't have a straightforward day and, before my trip to Goodison we went to the Shropshire Flower Fields* as one of Louisa's birthday presents. Although it was a bit damp when we got there, it did dry out while we walked through the fields of cornflowers, delphiniums, and sunflowers.
