Lost ...
After a recalculation, it would apear that today is not the last proper day of our holiday bu tomorrow is. All through our time away we've been convinced that we would either turn up for or ferry a day early or even worse, a day late!
Having not done much exercise over the period of time we've been away, we decided to do one of the circular walks in the welcome pack we received on arrival. As today promised to be a hotter day than yesterday, we set out early-ish with the intention of being back before it really got hot. We took our information leaflet and the photocopied map and set off. We walked through pine woods on sandy paths as this part of the country verges on les Landes, the pine forest that runs for hundreds of miles up the west coast of Aquitaine. To be honest the walking wasn't that interesting and large parts of the forest were being harvested so lots of the paths had been chewed up. We think it was for this reason that we lost our way, missed a turn and, to be frank, hadn't a clue where we were. We made it to a road and this was no help to us as it seemed to be off the edge of our map ... and it was getting hotter and we'd almost exhausted our water supplies.
Thank goodness for the iPhone. I've never used it before for navigation but it did lead us back to civilisation and the bar at the campsite where we treated ourselves to a large glass of beer each and berated our Patron for the the inaccuracy of his instructions. He took this in good part particularly when we said that we thought the loggers were to blame for removing signs of the pathway and he's promised to take a look and update the instructions.
The result of all this is that instead of blipping the Chateau de Piis, which we should have seen, you have a blip of Lady Marian, before we lost our way, taking a call whilst crossing a rustic (and very ricketty) bridge.
My apologies for a lack of comments, I've just realised how much I'm spending on data (especially using the phone for navigation) but I'll do what i can when I can!
