Life is a Challenge!

IT'S BEEN A GREAT DAY SO FAR!

When we were on our way to the Eye Clinic this morning, we saw a most beautiful sight - and it looked for all the world as if someone was drawing in the sky - these may have been trails, but as I liked them, I thought that I could use one of the shots for my Blip today.  When we arrived, I got out of the car to take more shots, rather than just through the car window, but in a flash, they were gone and there were just clouds - so good job I took the shots earlier!

We took our seats in reception at the Clinic and were entertained by this lovely man, and of course, I asked his name - and he said he was “Paul the Painter”!  Well, he was a real comedian and was telling us all about “Elf and Safety” - how he needs so many red barriers so that people don’t go near what he is painting, then he has to put up “Wet Paint” signs, and so on and so forth, all in the name of E & S!  There was just one other lady there;  she and we were laughing at his antics so much - in fact, she said to him “You’ve brightened my day”!

Paul even stuck a “Wet Paint” sign on himself and on her trolley, which she obviously used to carry her portable oxygen machine.  I told him that it was better than being at the theatre and he had made our day too.  I asked them both if they would mind being in my photograph and they both said that was fine.

The lady, whose name I found out was Anne-Marie, said she was petrified at the thought of having eye surgery, but we both reassured her that it was nothing to worry about - in fact, Mr. HCB said he had sailed through both surgeries - I didn’t say anything about my issues - much like when you have had a baby, you don’t tell people how painful it is!  However, the same couldn’t be said for the next lady who joined us.  She was a real “prophet of doom” and told an awful story about her eyes, so I tried to get the conversation onto to something different, having spoken to Anne-Marie a little earlier.

After having my eyes checked for pressure and being told this was fine, the nurse also tested my eyesight, and she said it was much better since before the operations, as I had only been able to read the second line down, but now I could read the bottom line!  There must be a joke in there somewhere!

Then we had to wait about half an hour for the Consultant - he was the one who actually did my second eye - and apologised when I eventually got in to see him, but said he had had a bad start to the morning.  After he had looked “deep into my eyes” and asked me to look at his ear while he used the machine - they all seem to do that! - I had a list of questions for him.

He patiently listened and answered each one, saying that the pressure behind both eyes was good and that my sight now was excellent - just what I wanted to hear.  He did say that the issues with irritation I have been having are due to “dry eyes” and that I should continue putting in the eye drops, but to “up the dosage” to 5 or 6 times a day.  I asked him about the blurriness I was still suffering from and he said that was quite normal following surgery and that this should clear eventually, but if I was still concerned after 6 months, then I should contact the Clinic again.

Before I left I gave the Consultant one of my hearts;  when he took it, he said, “You gave me one after you had your operation done” and sure enough, he opened his phone case and there was one that had “Peace” written on it - today’s had “Joy” so I told him to be blessed with joy today and that things could only get better.  He said that now he had been “double-blessed”, he was sure that would be the case - it doesn’t take much!

So all in all, a good morning, following which we went up to Jack’s for coffee and then into our favourite charity shop, DEBRA - where Mr. HCB bought yet another jigsaw puzzle and I bought a Per Una jumper - so we were both happy and we helped the charity a bit more!

Have a great weekend and stay cool and safe.  M xx

P.S.  Thank you for all your kind comments and good wishes for my appointment today - now it is “onwards and upwards!”
