Progress

During the course of the last couple of days, I've dug out the corner I photographed, and noted as "needing attention". [Other people take coffee breaks; I take digging breaks]. The plan is to build a small wall at the front of this space, along the line of the new path, and back fill with soil. We have plans for a statement plant in there - something that will fill the space and reduce the need for weeding. It's not an area of the garden which is ever going to be visible either from the inside or from the various outdoor sitting areas, so that while we want to get it sorted out, I don't want to be spending vast amounts of time weeding in the future once we have some established plants. Perhaps it might be a case, also, for the dreaded bark chippings to reduce the amount of weeds.

Along with building a wall along the front to retain a higher level of soil in a sort of "raised bed", we also need to attack some of the stumps (or at least the smaller stuff - the actual stumps will probably have to stay because of they are so close to the wall, but the rest of it we would like to bring back to ground level and hide with soil). Anyway, the plan is to work right to left, so we'll do the "raised bed" first.

Another of these dull blips to show some progress.
