Thursday: Charrice and Simone

It’s Pride Week here in Belize.  In a country that is still pretty homophobic it’s quite a muted affair.  

This morning K and I attended a Pride event in Belize City which gave a rundown of the history of LGBT rights in Belize.  It’s legal to be in a same sex relationship but you can’t legally register a partnership here.  

Anyway, here are two real heavy lifters who have done so much good and who have stood up for their rights over the years. Charrice, on the left, and Simone have been partners for years, both professionally and privately.  

In the background we have Simone’s grandson who introduced himself beautifully to everybody by saying: ‘I am Starling Pearce’.  What a fabulous name.
