Shabby Chic
A big howzatt for Froome winning that awesome stage of the Tour de France at the top of Mont Ventoux on Bastille Day yesterday.
I do hope he really is 'clean' because I suspect the French press will be looking for some copy on doping to explain his achievement at the end of that extra long gruelling day's ride.
It is sad that winning in athletics is so important that some people at the top of their game still feel that they need to dope, jeopardising their careers in the pursuit of the glory of standing on a podium.
His Lordship and I sashayed out this morning wearing cardigans for the first time in a week with the cloud cover and the breeze bringing the temperatures down considerably.
His Lordship has a bike computer of such complexity that he keeps forgetting how to reset it after a ride, while the man in the local shoe repairer's is known to have the knowledge.
With the deed done, we went for a coffee to a local cafe where the ambience is one of shabby chic. The first time we went we thought it was in the process of being renovated, but now we know this is how it's meant to be with old wallpaper and plaster hanging on to otherwise bare walls.
As HL consumed a large slab of millionaire's shortbread, he was wont to tell me that he had lost 1lb since last week. Frankly, have witnessed his diet, liquid and otherwise, over the week, I think he could only have had one foot on the scales.
Sometimes life is very unfair.
