Veggie group lunch

This morning I made Saltibarsciai (Lithuanian beetroot soup which is cold) for the veggie food group lunch. The theme was using a kitchen appliance. Unfortunately the local deli did not have the quail’s eggs so I had to use hen’s. I used my Lidl centre isle stick blender for it. Alison made a really yummy Kolokithapita which I’ll definitely cook and Suzie, the gadget queen, used a waffle maker for waffles which we had with ice cream made in her ice cream maker and some stewed rhubarb and rasps. It was all delicious and the conversation flowed. It was a bit of a struggle to haul myself back up the hill after all that.

We had to go to town later to pick up some stuff so called on #3 daughter with some 14th wedding anniversary gifts. The children were on good form and Luke had got dressed up for their anniversary which was to be an economical one - some M&S treats at home. We had a Pimms in the garden with them before heading home. It’s been a lovely sunny day.
