Bodhrán player

This chap kept us entertained  on the main street this afternoon.
In the morning MrRR and I were volunteering at the music school. About 700 kids had signed up to a weeks course to improve their playing of flutes. fiddles, concertinas, bodhran and harps. Some of them were as young as 7 with instruments bigger than they were. Many of the ones I spoke to had been playing for as long as they could remember.
One of them asked me the way to a class but I didn't catch what instrument group he was in so I had to ask one of the other volunteers. It transpired that he had said bodhran. so I asked how it was pronounced in gaelic. I then told her that in England we pronounced it 'bod run' and she just laughed. Later she called her son over and told him to ask me how we pronounced it. He just laughed - presumably at 'those funny English ways'
Vive la difference!
