120th Birthday Party !

Saturday was the occasion when my brother and his wife decided to celebrate a 120th birthday party! Not because they are 120, but because a bit earlier this year they both celebrated their 60th! And all budding mathematicians will know that 2 times 60 equals 120.

They celebrated by inviting about 100 friends and family to a barn dance in a local village hall. There were friends there from schooldays onwards and it was a great time. One friend had made them this cake which celebrates the fact that they love to go walking in Austria for their holidays. Note the plates of sandwiches for their picnics!

Its great to have friends and family and be able to look back on all the good times that have been enjoyed over the years. Memories, rather than possessions, last much longer and can bring more happiness. Although it is also true that some memories can be hard and painful.

I have chosen to blip the cake, rather than some of the more embarrassing shots that were (or could have been) taken during the dancing!
