The Green Dragon

M and I were back in Wymondham this afternoon to take down his stand at the Wymondham Arts Centre where he was exhibiting at an arts and crafts fair.

The beautiful old pub next door, the Green Dragon, is one of the oldest pubs in the country dating back to the 14th century and a pub since the 16th century. About 300 properties in Wymondham were destroyed in the great fire of 1615 but happily this lovely old building survived. It came close though, apparently there are scorch marks still visible on the exterior of the building.

I bet they didn’t serve deep fried halloumi with a sweet chilli dip in the 16th century.
