Grumpy Old Man

Rams and bangs

The Lorn Agricultural Show was on today, down at Tralee, behind the beach and with a great view of the sea. After yesterday I wasn't quite sure what to expect of the weather, but the forecast said sunshine and showers, so that was better anyway!

Having first taken Mrs M to Dunollie for a special Threads and Yarns day, I went on to Tralee. I parked in the field among many others and walked down the lane to the show field, just as the rain began. Fortunately I was able to dive into a marquee where I chatted to a woodworker for five minutes and came out to find that the rain was off. It stayed off for the next couple of hours and I met many friends and strangers and enjoyed a lot of chatting! Hundreds of folk came along to enjoy the event, watching the animal judging, the dog show, the car club and many other goings on. I wouldn't like to carry this great head of horns - my Blip today.

Back home for lunch and then down to Dunollie for my last garden walk. Four this time, including two ladies from Oregon. We had a couple of light showers but they didn't detract from the event - we had a good time. There was a special 17th century re-enactment event today, so before leaving I took my camera down to the Raven Knoll to try to capture the firing of a small cannon - my extra today. It was very noisy for its size!

Quote of the Day: 'God is on the side of the heaviest cannon.' - Napoleon Bonaparte.
