Quod oculus meus videt

The Walled Garden, Attingham Park

Another visit to a National Trust property, this time AttinghamPark, near Shrewsbury.  More cloud than on the previous days of the week, it almost felt as though it was going to rain at one stage, but the sun soon came back out again.

The house itself was very impressive, at least the ground floor.  Apparently the last owner sold off all of the furniture on the first floor so although you could walk up the grand staircase, that was as far as you could go.  Interestingly, in the servants areas they had a wages chart, including comparisons with 2024 salaries.  It looks as though people were reasonably paid in comparison to today, although their hours would be appreciably longer.

We walked around the grounds and through the walled gardens where this drift go flowers was most impressive.
