Sally Mair - Loving life

Goodbye to New York

We slept well in our high tower room, well away from the dust and busy-ness below and after a jolly good breakfast (even better because it was free as a thank you for joining their loyalty club) we took a cab up to Penn Station.
Today we left New York to travel back to our friends in Rhode Island, this time we took the train, a journey lasting just under 3 hours.
The long distance trains go from the Moynihan Train Hall, a former post office which is very bright and open, with lots of seats and refreshment areas. It was magnificent and a very efficiently laid out building with no sign of any trains. My blip shows us heading off down the escalator to catch our train. You don't go down till your train is announced.
I was amused by the little dog in his carry bag having a drink before they set off for Boston. Our seats were the last ones in the train, the shot of the tracks is taken through the rear window. The journey went smoothly and we were met at our destination. We are now safely reunited with the bulk of our luggage back in Newport in time for the Jazz Festival which starts tomorrow.
