Arrochar Alps
I've looked up the road past Tarbet (North Loch Lomond) and wondered what's up there. New territory, and today I found out.
Following a trail in Gravel Rides Scotland, I went the Duke's Path loop. There were warning, triggering words. Long climb. Another long climb. Relentless. And the Duke's Path 'technical sections'.
The climbs were fairly readable, and myself and the bike dealt with those (and the 'road closed' signs: ignore) easily enough.
The Duke's Path was a different matter. A beast, where at times the track was little wider than the width of the wheel, and boulders and sharp stones all over the shop. I walked a few sections that were so steep, it seemed the only option. Some heading down, some heading up.
Still, we made it in one piece. 3 hours 45mins to do 23 miles. Tough going. Enjoyed the scenery and the wild though, and my stamina will have raised a few points today. Got drenched at the end. Hey ho. :)
Main is Loch Long, below, and Loch Lomond, above. Extra is the start of the Duke's Path at Corran Lochan.
Cream crackered, and so aids restful sleep.
