Industrial Heritage

These bottle kilns at Gladstone Pottery Museum in Longton, Stoke on Trent have a shape which exemplifies a bygone industry. Nearly all of these coal fired pottery kilns were torn down after the Clean Air Acts made them impossible to use. This lead to an immediate improvement in the citizens' health as the industry changed.
Luckily these examples escaped demolition and became this fascinating museum, which is a brilliant and informative venue.
