Three Trees

I haven't spent much time under our top arbor because of the 35 steps up there. We talked about putting in a handrail but decided against it in the end. I've been rather tentative about stairs without a railing but realized that they really aren't a problem, so Spike and I sat up here this morning enjoying the view. There are three trees, redwoods I think, right in the middle of the shot which was taken over the roof of the house.

The arbor is adjacent to the raised beds  (extra) and John's shed, and having gone up to check things out, I sat in the arbor and enjoyed the shade and the gentle breeze. There are also three crape myrtles blooming against the fence but it is difficult to tell from this angle.

The rest of the day has been difficult. John went off for his scan expecting it to take two hours but was back home after just a little over an hour. I had cancelled my Pilates class because it appeared that there would be a conflict over the car. John tracked me down as I was walking Spike and said there was still time for me to get there, but I wasn't dressed for it and had already cancelled, so we just went home. It probably would have been good for me to go because I'm feeling quite anxious and just a a little depressed about the lack of communication with the doctor and why we have to wait so long to find out what it all means.

There was a giant truck on the street loading the huge logs left in a neighbors' yard by PG&E when they cut down a lot of big trees behind their house. PG&E is notorious for cutting trees and just leaving everything for the property owners to clean up. But these neighbors weren't even home when the trees were cut without their permission. There is no reason why these trees were cut since they weren't near any power lines. The neighbors think the tree cutters went to the wrong house but have been unable to get PG&E to take any responsibility. I'm hoping that PG&E is finally stepping up, but it's entirely possible that the neighbors paid to have all the logs cleared.

The power went out in the afternoon and we probably wouldn't have noticed since the solar battery kicked in right away, but the tv weirdly turned on on its own. A few minutes later we got a notice from PG&E informing us that the power was out and that it was an 'unplanned outage'. John wondered if the giant truck damaged the line when it was clearing the logs. That would have been ironic....

My neighbor asked me to make her a quilt and sent me a bunch of Paul Klee images 'for inspiration'. I love Klee and the images she sent are rather quilt-like (second extra) but I think it will have to be inspiration only as copying an impressionist, albeit also rather cubistic, painting with pieces of cloth might be beyond my remit....
