The Forty Foot.

Made famous by James Joyce in Ulysses and then by Sharon Horgan in Bad Sisters, this deep water, semi-sheltered harbour pool used to be Gentlemen only as the sign there (blip extra)  still shows, until I believe a posse of feminists reclaimed it in the 70s! In theory I am with them and on a day like today it did look wonderful, if invigorating.

First thing we frantically cleaned up and got out of Croan cottages worried about the draconian landlord’s late exit fines but although we were on the road at 10.02 he then waived all further charges because of the water situation.

We stopped at the local glass makers to get presents for the boys for Xmas and then headed for Dun Laoghaire.

After wandering around the Forty Foot at low tide, enjoying everyone jumping in below the ‘don’t jump in’ signs, we went for a delicious cafe lunch on Glasthule St and sent pics of Costa Del Dun Laoghaire to writer and producer of Nightsleeper in memory of our time there last October.

Drove to the airport in a leisurely manner for a smooth flight home. Pots needed serious watering, I am not sure they will all make it after just one hot weekend.
