Griffon Vulture Take Off …

… from above our high point today, Rote Totz Lücke, with Daniel (extra and in the morning light) then two of these huge birds with a 2.6m wingspan, came back and landed (second extra). I know vultures aren’t everyone’s cup of tea but they are making a great comeback in the Alps and are such iconic birds.
Today’s walk was very long, 6.5 hours, and I had to get back home by 16:30 to turn around and go out again for a reunion with with seven of David’s pupils from when he was a housemaster 50 years ago. Such lovely ladies, a delight to meet, hence another very late night!

Huge thanks to everyone who has enjoyed this beautiful area with me. Next time I shall find the bearded vulture for you too!
