The Forth and Edinburgh from Inchcolm
A fine day to be on the water. A cruise from South Queensferry along the Firth of Forth under the three magnificent bridges and calling in at Inchcolm for a couple of hours.
Very interesting exploring the abbey on the island, a maze of rooms, steps and stairs, windows and fortifications. Plenty of seabirds too. Fortunately, the main nesting season is over so we we safe from adult birds protecting their young. No puffins to be seen.
After the cruise we called in for refreshments at the Hawes Inn beneath the Forth Rail Bridge where we could hear trains rumbling overhead
