Lost Gardens of Heligan

It was so hard to choose a photo. I loved so many that I took today, and my phone ran out of battery! But we made it by 10.30 and whilst there were quite a lot of cars there already, the gardens were not that busy.

We started with coffee. Obviously. I had the best cappuccino so far. Then headed into the gardens. We explored pretty much all of it. Went back out to the car to have our picnic then back in for the rest of the afternoon. Beautiful kitchen gardens that I viewed with envy, determined to return to my allotment with renewed vigour. But we always make loads of plans, when we come away, and rarely carry them out as time never seems to allow it.

The jungle area, is full of the most amazing enormous ferns and gunnera. I particularly love plants with really big leaves. So not only do I want to work harder on my allotment, I also want to totally re-invent my garden with jungle plants. I may have to build a giant dome over it too. Especially as I bought myself a banana plant today which will need me to look after it like it’s one of my children. Perhaps even better than that! lol (sorry kids).
It was a long day, and we came home via some of the narrowest lanes in Cornwall.

Saying goodbye to Cornwall tomorrow as we head to Cheddar for another 5 days of holiday.
