Another busy day

After breakfast, we went to the new gardening club we've found in Raheen, and spent some time clearing hedge cuttings, and chatting.  We left at coffee time, because we had a lot to do in our own garden, and were expecting someone to call.

W mowed the grass around the pond and alongside the ditch.  He also did some strimming.  I weeded - another full trug, another bed looking much better.

We had a visit from someone to look at our front door/arched surround.  We can see daylight through the rotting wood to one side of the door!  And the door itself is almost impossible to open in the winter when damp.  He will do us an approximate quote, to give us an idea of the cost, but we need to visit the showroom and make definite decisions on the colour and style.  And we're awaiting a couple of other companies getting back to us.

And in the evening, another concert.  To think that in early May I was worried we had no further concerts booked.  This was the opening concert of a new venture - Waterford Chamber Music Festival.  A weekend of concerts and other events, taking place in the lovely venue of Mount Congreve House and Gardens.  Billy O'Brien, the organiser and the pianist, in the centre in the blue shirt in the photo, welcomed the audience, and told us that all the concerts are pretty much fully booked.  The first one this evening was great - good music, well played, in rather pleasant surroundings.  And at the interval the weather was good enough for us to stand around outside sipping our drinks (complementary because they have no license to sell alcohol, donations welcome).  Only downside - the chairs were not very comfortable.  Photo courtesy of W who could hold the camera high enough over everyone's heads.  

We're also booked in to the closing concert on Sunday lunchtime, which will, weather permitting, give us chance to look round the gardens afterwards.  Though it looks as though we might have to cough up an extra €10 each to do that!
